Extortion Suspects Arrested

Los Angeles – On Monday, July 9, 2001, Robbery- Homicide Division assumed the investigation of extortion in Newton Division.
The female victim reported that she received a demand for money to avoid the suspect from revealing to her estranged husband her love affair with a business associate.
The suspect threatened to provide pictures of her and her lover in intimate settings.
The victim believed that if her estranged husband found out about the relationship he would kill her.
The suspect also threatened to kill the victim if she didn’t pay and blame her murder on her husband.
Robbery-Homicide Division detectives conducted an extensive investigation and tracing the suspect’s whereabouts. The suspects were located and arrested with extortion letters addressed to various friends of the victim in the event she didn’t pay.
The suspects were identified as Emanuel Orosco and a 17 years male juvenile.
