Fatal DUI Traffic Collision in Newton Area
Los Angeles: Central Traffic Division officers arrest 22-year-old driver for a fatal DUI traffic collision in Newton Area.
On February 26, 2026, around 2:10 a.m., a 37-year-old male pedestrian was walking southbound on 9th Street at Towne Avenue. A red Nissan Kicks driven by 22-year-old, Orlando Larios, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes on 9th Street when he collided with the pedestrian.
The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced the Pedestrian deceased.
Central Traffic Division officers responded to the scene, conducted an investigation, and determined Larios was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Larios was arrested and booked for 23153(a)V.C. “Felony DUI”, booking no. 7189171.
We would like to remind everybody that when drinking alcoholic beverages, do not operate a motor vehicle. We would also like to remind the public when involved in a traffic crash to stop and check on the other parties, make sure they are not injured, call 9-1-1 if they need medical attention, and to exchange information. Don’t convert a traffic crash into a crime.
