Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division are investigating a hit and run traffic collision that killed 60-year-old Jose Mario Vaquero.
On December 19, 2019, at approximately 5:20 a.m., a fatal hit and run occurred at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Douglas Street.
A dark blue Honda Accord (unknown year), was traveling eastbound on Sunset Boulevard and was approaching Douglas Street.
A pedestrian was walking southbound through Sunset Boulevard, west of the intersection, and the vehicle collided into the pedestrian. The pedestrian landed on the street as the driver of the vehicle fled the location without identifying him or herself as required by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department Personnel responded to the scene, however, the pedestrian died from the injuries he sustained.
An exterior video recording system, from one of the local businesses, possibly captured the image of the hit and run vehicle. The video can be seen on Central Traffic Division’s Twitter account @LAPDCTD24
The Los Angeles County Coroner has identified the pedestrian as 60-year old Jose Mario Vaquero of Los Angeles.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
