WHAT: News Conference

WHEN: Tuesday November 20, 2018 11:00 a.m.

WHERE: 28th Street & Budlong Avenue (S/E corner) Los Angeles, CA

WHO: LAPD Captain, Al Neal, South Traffic Division LAPD Captain, Lee Sands, Southwest Division LAPD Detective, Ryan Moreno, South Traffic Detectives LAPD Investigating Officer, Beverly Calcote, South Traffic Detectives Victim’s Family and Friends

WHY: On November 13, 2018, around 7:30 a.m., a vehicle traveling south on Budlong Avenue, collided with a 77-Year-Old female pedestrian (Maria Asuncion Reynoso) as she crossed north on Budlong Avenue at 28th Street. The driver of the vehicle, in a White Nissan Armada, failed to remain at the scene, identify themselves, and render assistance. After the collision, the vehicle reversed and fled northbound on Budlong Avenue from 28th Street at a high rate of speed. The pedestrian succumbed to her injuries as a result of the collision. LAPD South Traffic Detectives responded to the scene and canvassed the area. Detectives located surveillance video and identified the suspect’s vehicle using department resources.

On November 15, 2018, LAPD South Traffic Detectives located and arrested the 25-year-Old suspect (Brandon Rosendo Mazariego D.O.B 4/2/1993). The Suspect and vehicle are in custody.
