Fatal Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Dead NR25057ti

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic detectives are investigating a felony hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man in his 60’s.

On February 24, 2025, around 7:00 p.m., a white compact sedan turning northbound onto Figueroa Street from 104th Place, struck a pedestrian crossing at an unmarked crosswalk. The driver of the sedan continued northbound Figueroa Street fleeing from the scene and failing to identify self or render aid as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

South Traffic detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward with any information regarding this fatal hit-and-run.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
