Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR19214dm

August 5, 2019

North Hills: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver responsible for killing a 40-year-old female pedestrian.

On August 04, 2019, at 12:05 a.m., a pedestrian was crossing south on Roscoe Boulevard, outside of a marked crosswalk, when she was struck by a black vehicle traveling west on Roscoe Boulevard passing Haskell Avenue. The vehicle continued west, failing to stop to render aid and provide identification.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The victim’s name will not be released until next-of-kin is notified.

The public should be aware that individuals who are involved in an injury collision must stop at the scene, provide their identification, and render aid. Failing to do so is a felony and carries the possibility of significant time in prison. Pedestrians are also reminded to utilize crosswalks when crossing the street.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
