Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR19285ll

October 21, 2019

Pacoima: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver involved in a hit and run traffic collision that left a 60-year-old male dead.

On October 19, 2019, around 11:50 p.m., a male pedestrian exited a parked vehicle on San Fernando Road north of Truesdale Avenue. As he crossed eastbound San Fernando Road, he was struck by a dark colored vehicle, possibly a black Lexus SUV, travelling southbound San Fernando Road. The SUV continued southbound after the collision without stopping and rendering aid.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the male pedestrian to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. His name will not be released until next-of-kin has been notified.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should stop, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
