The driver identified as, Kateara Treggs, 26, of Inglewood, was taken into custody on 8/9/2021 at 6:30 a.m. Treggs was booked for 20001(a) V.C. “Felony Hit & Run.”

The driver identified as, Kateara Treggs, 26, of Inglewood, was taken into custody on 8/9/2021 at 6:30 a.m. Treggs was booked for 20001(a) V.C. “Felony Hit & Run.”

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are investigating a fatal hit and run traffic collision.

On Monday, August 9, 2021, around 2:50 a.m., a 60-year-old woman was struck and killed. The victim stopped her vehicle with the hazard lights on facing southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard just south of Coliseum Street. She exited her vehicle to care for a cat that was laying in the roadway.

The suspect’s vehicle was traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard and changed lanes to avoid colliding with the victim’s vehicle, striking the victim. The suspect pulled over to the side of the road, exited her vehicle and recovered a car part that came off her vehicle from the accident. The suspect observed the pedestrian lying on the roadway, and left the location failing to render aid.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. At this time the victim’s information is not being released until family is notified.

Investigators have located the suspect vehicle and its currently being held for evidence.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
