Fatal shooting leads to deaths in Boyle Heights NR16037TI

Los Angeles: Driver shot by gang member, losses control of vehicle and crashes into a home. Two people dead and one injured as a result of tragic violence.

On February 7, 2016, around 11 a.m., Hollenbeck officers responded to a radio call of a “shooting” at the intersection of Enchandia Street and Cesar Chavez Boulevard. The driver- 18-year-old Henry Sanchez was struck by gun fire as he waited for a green light along with two passengers at the intersection of Enchandia Street and Cesar Chavez Boulevard. Upon being shot, the victim lost control of his vehicle and collided into a residential home near the intersection of Enchandia Street and Pleasant Avenue.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and transported Sanchez to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. The passenger 19-year-old Maria Cordova was pronounced dead at the scene. Her cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office. The rear male passenger in the vehicle was not seriously injured. The residents in the home were not injured.

Los Angeles Police Department Hollenbeck Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identity and arrest of the persons responsible for the murders.

Suspect-1 is described as a young adult male Hispanic, between 5 feet 9 inches tall to 6 feet tall. He was wearing dark clothing.

Suspect-2 is described as a male, no further description.

The suspects’ vehicle is described as a possible late model mid-size SUV, black in color. The investigation reveals that the shooting is possibly gang related.
