Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division Detectives have identified a pedestrian who died due to a traffic collision on May 22, 2023.
On May 22, 2023, around 1:45 p.m., 74-year-old Maria Esther Valdivia, a resident of Los Angeles, was crossing within a marked crosswalk, on Scott Avenue, at the intersection of Glendale Boulevard. A 1999 Mercedes-Benz E320 travelling westbound on Scott Avenue began to negotiate a northbound right turn onto Glendale Boulevard and crashed into Valdivia.
The driver stopped to render aid to Valdivia, cooperated with the investigation, and did not display any impairment. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene, transported Valdivia to a local hospital, and was admitted for her severe injuries. At the time of the initial investigation, Mrs. Valdivia did not have any identification and was admitted as ‘Jane Doe’.
On May 23, 2023, detectives were notified that Mrs. Valdivia was positively identified by family members. Tragically, Valdivia died from her injuries on May 25, 2023.
