Los Angeles: On February 6, 2018, around 9:30 p.m., three males were riding on bicycles westbound on Jefferson Avenue approaching Flower Street and the Metro train tracks. All three cyclists attempted to cross the train tracks, even though there was an oncoming train northbound.

The first male rode across the tracks without being hit, but the second and third male were both struck by the oncoming train. The Metro train immediately stopped and cooperated with investigators. The first male was not at scene prior to police arrival.

Both males were transported by LAFD to a local hospital, where one of the males was pronounced dead and the other is in critical condition.

The Los Angeles County Coroner will identify and release the decedent’s information at a later date.
