In October of 2022, Gang investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Division began a joint investigation with the FBI Targeting the Westside Wilmas criminal gang.  The target of the investigation was the sale of illegal firearms and narcotics throughout the Harbor area.  The investigation expanded beyond the Westside Wilmas and into the upper echelons of the Mexican Mafia.  Today, the FBI served multiple search warrants throughout the south bay and as far away as Bakersfield.  Multiple suspects were taken into custody in addition to many firearms, including ghost guns and assault weapons, as well as many pounds of illegal narcotics, including fentanyl.
