Fire Deaths in Korea Town Turn Out To Be Murder Suicide

March 7, 2006

Los Angeles: After receiving a report from the Coroner’s Office, Wilshire Area Homicide Detectives have assumed the investigation that claimed three lives in a fire at a Korea Town apartment last week.

Last Friday, March 3, 2006, at about 4:55 AM, a family of three, 44-year-old Kyung-Won Yi (wife), 45-year-old Chong-Kwan Yi (husband), and their 13-year-old son, Duk Yi, were found deceased as a result of a fire.

Based on the Coroner’s examination, detectives believe the deaths were a murder-suicide. It appears the wife stabbed her bedridden husband then herself after setting the fire.

Furthermore, the Coroner’s Office has yet to determine the cause of death for Duk Yi. Further tests are pending.
