Former LAPD Detective Pleads Guilty to Fraud

Los Angeles: A former Los Angeles Police Detective pled guilty in court Thursday morning to charges of Felony Insurance Fraud, following a 2-year investigation..

On Thursday, January 10, 2008, Gilbert Barrow, a 13-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department pled guilty to one count of Insurance Fraud. He was sentenced to 5-years of formal probation, 500 hours of community service, $45,000 in restitution to the City of Los Angeles, and a fine of $200. He was given credit for one day served in County Jail.

Investigators from LAPD’s Professional Standards Bureau arrested Barrow on April 10, 2007, and had been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation. He officially resigned from the Department on September 12, 2007.

Barrow was last assigned to Rampart Detectives. He was a resident of Yucaipa during the course of the investigation.
