Four Shot, Two Killed in Pacoima

Los Angeles: On Thursday, September 5, 2002, at 2:09 a.m., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the 10900 block of Jamie Avenue in Pacoima. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers were directed to four shooting victims. One of the victims, Akida Clay, a 25 year-old resident of Pacoima, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other shooting victims were transported to local hospitals and were treated for gunshot wounds. Daniel Sykes, a 34 year-old resident of Pacoima, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Lonnie Diggs, a 25 year-old resident of Pacoima, was treated at a local hospital and released. Felincia Brown, a 37 year-old resident of Pacoima, was admitted to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
Further investigation revealed the victims were shot by an unknown suspect who ambushed them as they were talking in front of the location.
The weapon and suspect(s) are not in custody. The incident appears to be gang related.
