Four Suspects Arrested in Connection With Big Rig Theft

On Monday, September 6, 1999, at approximately 9:00 a.m., an independent big rig owner and operator discovered that his vehicle had been stolen from the area of Hayvenhurst Avenue and Schoenborn Street in North Hills. The big rig contained a load of lobster and shrimp valued at over $1,000,000. During the course of the investigation, detectives assigned to the Cargo Theft/Hijack Unit (CHU) of Burglary-Auto Theft Division received information that the big rig had been taken to a storage facility at located at the 7300 block of S. Alameda Street. The detectives responded to the location and took four suspects into custody as well as the big rig and the million-dollar cargo. In addition to the cargo, the detectives also seized two AK 47’s and 7.62 Caliber ammunition.

Three of the suspects had extensive felony arrest records. These suspects were booked at Parker Center jail for grand theft and their bail set at $1,000, 000. The fourth suspect was booked for outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
