"Gang Related Shooting Claims 28 Year Old Victim"

Mid City: The Los Angeles Police Department Wilshire Area Homicide Detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, September 5, 2000, at approximately 4:15 a.m.

A 28-year-old male Black victim, while attending a party at 4019 W. Pico Boulevard, became involved in an argument with a male Black from another gang. During the argument the second male Black pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the head area. The suspect then fled to an unknown location.

The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the location and attended to the victim. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the location. The victim’s identification is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Multiple expended casings were recovered at the crime scene and booked with related evidence. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

The motive for the incident is gang related.
