"Gang Related Shooting Leaves One Dead"

Los Angeles – On Saturday, August 19, 2000, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Victim Armando Castillo, male Hispanic, 25 years of age, was seated inside his vehicle along with his brother and another friend on the 400 block of Pacific Coast Highway. Individuals riding in a dark colored, Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) pulled up next to Castillo’s vehicle and began to engage in conversation. One of the suspects inside the SUV pointed a gun at Armando Castillo and fired several rounds hitting him.

Castillo was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The motive for the murder appears to be gang related.
