"Gang Shooting Claims 23 Year Old Victim’s Life"

Los Angeles – On Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at 1:05 a.m., Barbara Bullock, 23 years old, along with Haason Baker, 20 years old, Theresa Daniels, 23 years old, and Sylvester Watson, 19 years old, were driving northbound Western Avenue in Haason’s 1985 Chevrolet Caprice. Haason was the driver of the vehicle. The suspects’ vehicle, described only as a 90’s possible Buick two door, dark in color pulled along side and the suspects, described only as two male Blacks, in their 20’s, began flashing gang signs. All of a sudden, the passenger suspect armed himself with an unknown type 9-mm semi-automatic pistol and began firing into the victims’ vehicle. The victims, in fear of their lives, sped off and subsequently crashed into a church located at 6811 South Western Avenue. Both suspects then fled the location.

Victim Barbara Bullock was not struck by the suspects gunfire, but she did sustain life threatening injuries as a result of the vehicle crashing into the church. Victim Baker sustained multiple gunshots to his upper torso and victim Watson sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. Victim Daniels was not struck by the gunfire, but she was treated for injuries sustained from the traffic collision.

On Sunday, July 23, 2000, at 8:30 a.m., Barbara Bullock’s condition worsened and she subsequently succumbed to her injuries.

The motive for the shooting appears to be gang related.
