"Gang Shooting Ends In Death"
Los Angeles – On Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at approximately 9:35 p.m., victim Mauricio Ibarra, male Hispanic, 20 years of age, was standing in front of a pay phone located on the 2600 block of Pico Boulevard. Witnesses heard several gunshots, and saw a male Hispanic running away from the area where Ibarra was standing, westbound on Pico Boulevard. Witnesses observed the victim down on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene, and transported Ibarra to an area hospital where he died as a result of a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
The motive for this shooting appears to be gang related. The suspect and handgun used are outstanding.
