"Gang shooting kills 8-year-old"
 
Los Angeles: On Thursday, April 11, 2002, at approximately 7:35 PM an 18-year-old Hispanic male gang member, who was later identified as Luis Romano was involved in a dispute with a rival gang. The dispute occurred in Trinity Park located at 2450 South Trinity Street. Romano immediately left the park after the dispute. Romano returned shortly to the park and started to shoot at the group of rival gang members with whom he had the earlier dispute. During the shooting, the 8-year-old, Anthony Ramirez, was shot in the upper torso and transported to a local hospital where he died.
Romano was placed under arrest for murder and booked at Parker Center Jail.
Newton Detectives are still looking for an outstanding suspect who is described as a Hispanic male gang member.
