Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Valley Traffic Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a driver who fatally struck an elderly woman as she crossed a street in San Fernando Valley.
On Saturday, October 30, 2010, at about 5:40 a.m., a female in her 60’s, was walking in the west cross walk of Van Nuys Boulevard. A possible white Ford Explorer, traveling west bound on Victory Boulevard hit the female pedestrian. The cart she was pushing was dragged for several hundred feet before it separated from the suspect’s vehicle. The female victim was pronounced dead at scene.
The driver of the Explorer immediately fled the scene without rendering aid or identifying himself/herself as required by law.
An off duty police officer blocked the victim’s path with his personal car so that the victim did not get run over again.
According to investigators, there is no description about the driver and the victim’s identity is unknown at this time.
