"Hit and Run Investigation Press Conference"

Los Angeles: On September 24, 2000, at approximately 6:45 PM, 30 year old Claudio Madera Castillo parked his car along the north curb of 4th Street, just east of Grande Vista Avenue, after experiencing car trouble. Castillo stood outside his vehicle and into the path of a white 1985 Chevy Astro Van that was travelling westbound on 4th Street.

An unknown witness directed officers at the scene to the 200 block of South Dacotah Street, where the unoccupied van was recovered.

The registered owner of the van was located, questioned, and released.

Mr. Castillo was transported to USC Medical Center. He sustained major head trauma, which may result in permanent paralysis.

In an effort to locate witnesses to this crime, a Press Conference has been scheduled for Friday, September 29, 2000, at 10:00 AM, in front of Central Community Police Station, 251 East 6 Street, Los Angeles. Beatriz Alvarez-Castillo, the wife of Victim Castillo, will be present at the press conference. A photograph of the Chevy Astro Van will be displayed.
