South Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are investigating a traffic collision that resulted in the death of an occupant of a motorized scooter.

On Sunday, February 22, 2026, around 1:35 a.m., a 30-year-old female on a mobility scooter was traveling northbound Slauson Avenue from Denver Avenue. The victim was struck by a vehicle, who failed to stop, identify themselves, and render aid as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The vehicle is described as a possible mid 2000’s black Chevy Tahoe or Suburban.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
