Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Deceased NR25182cm

September 14, 2025

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) South Traffic Division detectives are investigating a hit-and-run traffic collision that left a pedestrian deceased.

On September 12, 2025, at 7:36 p.m., a pedestrian crossing Figueroa Street, north of 81st Street, outside of the marked crosswalk, was struck by a silver Toyota Corolla traveling southbound on Figueroa Street. The impact caused the pedestrian to go airborne and collide with the roadway. The driver of the Toyota pulled over to render aid to the pedestrian, when a blue vehicle, traveling southbound on Figueroa Street, struck the pedestrian. The driver of the blue vehicle continued traveling southbound on Figueroa Street without stopping to identify themselves or render aid, as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
