Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Deceased
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian deceased.
On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, around 12:40 p.m., an unknown vehicle was travelling eastbound Gage Avenue from Vermont Avenue. The vehicle collided into a pedestrian who was in the street next to parked vehicles. The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at scene and render aid to the victim, as required by law. The driver fled eastbound Gage Avenue towards Hoover Street.
The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
