Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that severely injured a man in his 50’s.
On December 12, 2025, around 5:55 a.m., a dark-colored vehicle was traveling westbound on 9th Street when it crashed into the victim, who was crossing northbound on Maple Street in the crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop, render aid, and identify themselves as required by law and fled westbound on 9th Street.
The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was treated for severe injuries.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
