Hit and Run Suspect Arrested: Severe Traffic Collision Vs Two Horseback Riders NR19293jc

Lake View Terrace: On Friday, October 25, 2019, at 9:40 p.m., a 1998 Chevrolet Astro Van was traveling eastbound on Foothill Boulevard approaching Wheatland Avenue when it collided with two horseback riders. The van then collided into a wall and became disabled. The driver exited the van and fled the scene failing to render aid or provide identification. Both animals perished at scene and the riders were severely injured.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the two riders to a local hospital where they received medical treatment and are currently in stable condition.

Valley Traffic Division detectives’ investigation led to the arrest and booking of the driver of the suspect vehicle. The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Rolando Garcia and he was booked for felony hit and run, booking number 5783462.

The public should be aware that individuals who are involved in a traffic collision must stop at the scene, provide their identification, and render aid. Horseback riders are also reminded to ride safely in well-lit areas and utilize lights or reflective wear when riding during darkness.
