Los Angeles: A woman sleeping in her sidewalk tent was critically injured early Sunday morning by a hit and run drive.
On March 4, 2012, at about 2:30 a.m., a fifty-one-year old resident of Los Angeles was asleep in her tent on the west sidewalk of Towne Avenue between 4th Street and 5th Street. A hit and run driver who was intentionally trying to run-over another pedestrian, drove up onto the sidewalk hitting the victim inside her tent instead.
The hit and run driver was a man in his early 30’s driving a 1998-2009 Pontiac Grand-Prix or Grand-Am. The driver sped off westbound on 5th Street towards San Pedro Street. The cars side window had been shattered during the incident. Detectives believe the motive may have been drug related.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fired Department personnel and was listed in critical but stable condition.
