Hollenbeck Homicide Investigating Shooting in Front of Bakery

Los Angeles – Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are investigating the gang related shooting death of Gilbert Rivera, 26 years of age, which occurred in front of Aguila’s Bakery located in the 5000 block of Huntington Drive.
On February 27, 2000, at 12:00 p.m., victim Rivera parked his vehicle in front of the bakery leaving his 12 month-old son inside the vehicle. As Rivera exited the bakery, two male Hispanics approached him on foot. One of the suspects shot Rivera several times with an unknown type handgun as his son looked on from his car seat inside the vehicle. The two suspects fled the area on foot westbound on Huntington Drive, and then continued southbound through a parking lot to Navarro Street. Rivera collapsed on the sidewalk and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives Charles Markel and Rodrigo Amador are conducting the investigation.
