Los Angeles: Wilshire Detectives are investigating the death of 25 year-old Jonathan Merino Escalante of Arleta.
On Sunday, June 8, 2003, at about 2:15 a.m., the victim was seated in his vehicle with a female friend in front of a residence located in the 3000 block of W. 12th Street, when a suspect approached and robbed the pair at gunpoint. Escalante attempted to escape and was shot.
The suspect left the location and entered an awaiting light blue older model Chevy Suburban, being driven by an unknown person, and drove northbound on Serrano Street.
The suspect(s) identity are unknown at this time. This is an on-going investigation.
