Los Angeles – On Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at approximately 12:40 a.m., the victims, 39 year-old Tina Michelle Smith, and William Bride Holland, 45 years of age were sitting to the rear of "Jino’s West Italian Restaurant," located at 8715 South Western Avenue. A blue 4-door Lincoln Continental drove into a parking stall of the business and a male suspect, armed with an unknown type of firearm, got out of the passenger side and walked up to both Smith and Holland. The suspect fired several shots at the victims. Smith sustained a single gunshot wound to her upper torso and died at scene. Holland sustained a wound to the left side of his head and was subsequently transported by Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics to a local hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
The motive is unknown and the suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.
