"Homicide Investigation in 77th Street Area"
 
Los Angeles: On Sunday, July 29,2001, at approximately 3:20 p.m., the victim, a male Hispanic, approximately 45 years of age was confronted by a male Hispanic in front of 607 East 81st Street. A verbal argument ensued between the victim and suspect. During the argument, the suspect pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired several rounds at the victim. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue to Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The identity of the victim is unknown.
The suspect was described only as a male Hispanic, driving a small compact car possibly a red 1987, 2-door, Ford Escort, last seen eastbound on 81st Street.
