"Homicide Investigation in Rampart Area"

Los Angeles – On Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at 11:20 p.m. a male, Hispanic, approximately 30 years of age, was walking westbound in the 1500 block of West 7th Street when the suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed the victim’s chain from around his neck. The victim chased the suspect and caught him a short distance away. The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.

The suspect then fled on foot westbound on 7th Street then northbound on Union Avenue.

The victim was transported to USCMC by paramedics and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The identity of the victim has not been established. The suspect and weapon remain outstanding.

The suspect has been described as a male Hispanic between 28 to 30 years of age; 5’5" to 5’7" in height, with a thin build weighing approximately 150 pounds. The suspect has black hair worn in a ponytail and was wearing a blue striped shirt and dark jeans.
