Homicide Suspect Turns Himself In NR23072dm

Venice: On March 26, 2023, around 6:00 p.m., Pacific Area patrol officers responded to the 400 block of Indiana Avenue for a radio call of a shooting. Officers located an adult male, in his 50’s, who had been shot, and citizens were providing aid. Officers at scene continued life saving measures until they were relieved by the Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. The suspect had fled the location.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department’s – Operations West Bureau Homicide Unit responded and assumed investigative responsibility. The incident was determined to be a family violence situation involving adults that did not reside at the location. On March 28, 2023, the suspect turned himself in at the Pacific Community Police Station. Donald Ray Boyce, a 57-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was booked for the Murder (Booking #6576585).

On March 30, 2023, the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Murder charges were filed.
