Husband and wife arrested for Grand Theft

Los Angeles: On March 24, 2008 at approximately 11:30 a.m., detectives with Fraud Section, Commercial Crimes Division, arrested 56-year-old Jong-Yoon Choi of Northridge for Grand Theft.

The arrest took place at Parker Center after Choi turned himself in on the outstanding arrest warrant. Additionally, on March 25, 2008, his wife, 43-year-old Ji-Youn Choi, surrendered to the court on an outstanding arrest warrant issued for her in connection with the case.

In the course of the investigation, detectives learned that between August 17, 2004 through June 30, 2005, the husband and spouse team, while operating a business, L. Voice USA, in the Los Angeles Fashion District submitted 178 fraudulent invoices for factoring to the victim company, Prime Business Credit Incorporated (PBCI). PBCI, a finance lender, purchases invoices from its clients at approximately 60 percent of the face value.

The victim’s company sustained a loss of approximately $292,000.

Choi and his wife have been formally charged with 487(A) PC (Grand Theft) and have posted bail in the amount of $50,000 each.
