Investigators Arrest Suspect Responsible for Multiple Shootings in the Hollenbeck Area NR23188dm

Los Angeles: On July 8, 2023, from 6:20 a.m. to 7:20 a.m., a male Hispanic suspect drove through LAPD’s Hollenbeck Area and shot a rifle at several citizens, striking one. He also pointed the rifle at several others. All the incidents occurred at different locations.

Around 11:20 a.m., Hollenbeck Area patrol units, detectives, and other resources, were able to locate a silver vehicle, matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle, in the area of 3rd Street and Gertrude Street. The vehicle was unoccupied. A male Hispanic, matching the description of the suspect, exited a residence where the vehicle was parked. He was taken into custody without incident. The suspect taken into custody is the registered owner of the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, the rifle, believed to be involved in crimes, was recovered. Also recovered were numerous spent and unspent rifle rounds. No officers or the suspect was injured during the incident. The suspect’s name will be released once booking is completed.

The one victim that was struck by a round from the rifle was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
