Joseph II Weakley Discovered Dead

On Thursday, June 17, 1999, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Joseph II Weakley, a male Black, 62 years old and Executive Director of Joe Weakley Run, was discovered unconscious by Michael Anthony Johns, his roommate inside his residence located in the 1900 block of West Century Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Unit subsequently transported Weakley to Centinela Hospital in Inglewood for medical treatment. Weakley failed to respond to medical treatment and was pronounced dead on Friday, June 18, 1999 at approximately 12:10 a.m.

The circumstances which led to his death have not been revealed.

Weakley was a well known role model for the youth within the community where he has for several years donated his time in sporting leagues, primarily basketball. Mr. Weakley was the Executive Director of Shoot and Dunk League, and Organizer of the Supreme Challenge Pro-Am Basketball League, and S.P.E.A.K. Sports Participation for Educated Athletes who just happen to be Kids, Boys and Girls Summer Basketball Camp.
