Juvenile Arrested For Making Terrorist Threats

On Wednesday, September 29, 1999, at about 10:00 P.M., Devonshire Area officers responded to a radio call of a battery suspect in the 18600 block of Citronia St. They were met at the location by the victim who told them that she had caught her 17 year old son trying to steal some money from her. When she had stopped him he slapped her. She informed him she was going to call the police and he told her he was going to kill the family and all the police who showed up. While the officers were speaking with the victim the subject appeared and began yelling at them. He was armed with a large hunting knife in a sheaf on his belt and was holding a rifle case that contained a loaded rifle. The subject was taken into custody.

During the subsequent investigation, numerous improvised explosive devices were found and the area was evacuated. The bomb squad responded and detonated the devices.

The subject was booked for making terrorist threats and detained at Sylmar Juvenile Hall.
