Kidnap for Ransom Suspects Arrested

Los Angeles – On Monday, July 9, 2001, Robbery-Homicide Division assumed the investigative responsibility of a kidnap for ransom investigation in Southeast Area.
The victim, a 35-year-old undocumented alien, was taken at gunpoint by three male Hispanics suspects. The suspects bound and viciously beat the victim and demanded a substantial ransom from the victim’s cousin or they would kill him. The victim was placed in the trunk of a car and held hostage for 26 hours. He was repeatedly threatened and beaten as the suspects made ransom demands for his release.
Detectives from Robbery-Homicide Division assisted by detectives from Detective Support Division following an extensive complex investigation located the suspects, successfully rescued the victim and arrested five armed suspects.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. The suspects are undocumented aliens from Sinaloa, Mexico. they targeted the victim for a drug deal that went bad.
The suspects were booked at Jail Division with bail set at $515,000.00 each. The suspects were identified as:

Freddy Guadalupe Noriega, 32 years

Jorge Rosa Torres, 22 years

Jose Espinoza Vera, 18 years

Daniel Orozco, 18 years

Eduardo Lopez Imperial, 20 years
