WHAT: The Los Angeles City Council will honor civilian Dorian Cole for protecting an injured LAPD motorcycle officer from further harm.

WHO: Los Angeles City Councilman Felipe Fuentes, Councilmember 7th District Los Angeles City Councilmembers LAPD Captain Ann Young, Commanding Officer, Central Bureau Traffic Division Mr. Dorian Cole

WHY: On March 24, 2015, around 1:30 p.m., an LAPD motorcycle officer and a civilian motorcyclist collided in the carpool and No. 1 lane of the southbound 5 freeway just north of the 405 Freeway. Reacting quickly and to protect the two injured riders, Commercial truck driver Dorian Cole stopped and positioned his rig to shelter the two downed riders from further harm. The responding California Highway Patrol officers determined that Mr. Cole’s action was heroic and symbolic of how a citizen can rise to action in order to protect and save others in distress.
