Labor Day Shooting Leaves One Dead

Los Angeles: A 37-year-old man was shot and killed on Monday night in South Los Angeles.

On Monday, September 3, 2007, just before 8 p.m., the victim, Hasson Johnson, a resident of Los Angeles, was walking on the east sidewalk of the 8500 block of South Harvard Boulevard when he was confronted by two male Hispanic suspects. For unknown reasons one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and shot Johnson in the chest. Johnson ran away from the suspects a few blocks away and collapsed near Western Avenue and 84th Place.

The suspects were last seen running away northbound on Harvard Boulevard after the shooting.

Johnson was taken to California Hospital for treatment, but died a short time later.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.
