WHY:    
The Los Angeles Police Department will graduate 42 police officers, with 29 males and 13 females. Forty-one of the graduates will serve with the LAPD, and one will serve on the Los Angeles World Airports’ police force. The ethnic breakdown of the graduates is as follows: eight Caucasians, 20 Hispanics, five African American, seven Asians and two Filipinos. Graduating officers have completed 920 hours of training over the course of 24 weeks.
