LAPD and HSI Serve Multiple Search Warrants in Years-Long
Transnational Narcotics and Firearms Trafficking Investigation
LOS ANGELES – On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a coordinated operation targeting a transnational narcotics and firearms trafficking network.
Detectives from the LAPD’s Gang and Narcotic Division, Gun Unit, and HSI Special Agents assigned to the Homeland Security Investigations Los Angeles’ Cargo Group, with assistance from additional partner agencies, executed multiple search warrants at locations across the region.
This operation is the result of a years-long investigation into an international criminal enterprise involved in the smuggling of narcotics and firearms.
As a result of the warrants, two individuals, Jose Lamson and Reece Smith, were taken into custody by HSI Special Agents. Investigators recovered significant evidence related to the ongoing investigation, including quantities of methamphetamine and multiple firearms.
This collaborative operation underscores our commitment to dismantling dangerous criminal networks that pose a threat to public safety both locally and globally.
