LAPD Arrests Valentine’s Day Murder Suspect NR15068jr

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department tracked down a suspect wanted for the murder of a man in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles.

On Saturday, February 14, 2015, at about 11:05 pm, Los Angeles Police Department officers received several calls of shots fired in the 4800 block of Marionwood Drive. When officers arrived, they found two shooting victims. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced 50 year old Calvin Johnson dead at the scene. A second victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that this shooting occurred after a dispute over loud music. The suspect, identified as 40 year old Joe Coronado, is a known gang member.

On March 3, 2015, Coronado was located in the city of Banning, California and arrested by members of an FBI-LAPD Fugitive Task Force. Coronado was booked on a 187 PC warrant, Murder, and is being held on $2,040,000 bail. He will be arraigned in LAX Court on Thursday.
