LAPD Conducts Sobriety Checkpoint
Saturday, August 12, 2006
7:30 PM to 1:30 AM
Sepulveda Boulevard between Roscoe and Lassen Boulevard
Valley Traffic Division Officers
The intent of the sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of traffic collisions involving intoxicated drivers through enforcement and public awareness. The message is simple "You Drink & Drive, You Lose." Motorists approaching a checkpoint will see signs advising them that a sobriety checkpoint is ahead. Once diverted into a lane, a motorist will be detained only a few moments while an officer explains the purpose of the checkpoint.
Valley Traffic Division will staff the checkpoint. The California Office of Traffic Safety in their efforts to support the apprehension of drunk drivers has provided the funding to conduct this operation.
For further information contact Sergeant Robert Kirk, Valley Traffic Division, at 818-756-8381.
