LAPD will be holding their First Annual Baseball Event, followed by Sylmar’s Baseball League Awards Ceremony
When:
Saturday, June 2, 2001, from 10 am to 2 pm

Sylmar Independent Baseball League, 12700 Gridley Avenue, Sylmar, CA 91342
Who:
Councilman Alex Padilla will attend the event and ceremony.
Why:
The main objective of the event will be to raise money for kid charities, while strengthening the ties between the community and LAPD.
LA Centurions Baseball Team was formed in the summer of 2001. There has not been a baseball team on the department since 1975. This event will be the start of sporting events that will bring together more police officers and the communities.
The teams will consist of sworn LAPD officers and Sheriff Deputies who will be engaging in the baseball event.
Also present will be LAPD Public Safety Vehicles, Air Support, D.A.R.E., and other specialized LAPD units. All hosting over 800 boys and girls participating on 6 baseball and 2 softball fields.
