What:
Hollenbeck Police Activities League (PAL) announce upcoming release of their grassroots documentary Happy Planet.
When:
Thursday, October 14, 2010
7:30 – 9 p.m.
Where:
Saban Theatre
8440 Wilshire Boulevard
Beverly Hills, CA
Who:
Hollenbeck PAL Youths
Why:
The film follows inner-city youth on an education journey, as they learn why the Earth is in trouble and what they can do to help it. As the kids visit various LA area eco hotspots, they learn hands-on lessons about energy conservation, eco-friendly practices and green efforts supported by recycling tips from Actor/Environmentalist Ed Begley Jr..
With participants from Hollenbeck Pal’s leadership program, “Good News Kids” and the Mayor’s “Gang Reduction and Youth Development” programs, the project sought to capture the kids’ strong commitment to their community and their desire to spread a powerful message throughout the streets of Los Angeles. LAPD Captain Ortega explains, “This courageous group of kids have set out to make a difference. They aren’t looking to merely survive a city filled with gang violence; they are out to save the planet!”
