A community police academy graduation ceremony for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) participants who will be liaison representatives for their communities with the Department

WHY:
To acknowledge 26 community members graduating from the Department’s LGBT Community Police Academy after completing a nine-week course of basic introduction to LAPD’s training, policies and state laws.  The course also included a firsthand tour of the new downtown jail and communications facility. Assistant Chief Sandy Jo MacArthur will address the continued efforts made by the LAPD to strengthen partnerships with the LGBT community in a spirit of respect and dignity.
