WHAT: An in-depth look at the training provided to update LAPD officers on Use of Force

WHEN: Tuesday, June 21, 2016 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.

WHERE: Ahmanson Recruit Training Center 5651 W. Manchester Avenue Westchester, California 90045

WHO: Mr. Arif Alikhan, Director of LAPD Office of Constitutional Policing and Policy Dr. Luann Pannell, Director of LAPD Police Training and Education LAPD Training Division Staff LAPD Media Relations Staff WHY: The LAPD is providing a unique opportunity for the media to experience the training provided to update officers in use of force tactics and techniques. LAPD officers are confronted with a variety of situations while on patrol in the city of Los Angeles. Some of those situation result in a use of force. The tactics and techniques utilized do not occur as often as many think, and therefore are perishable skills. Ultimately, the preservation of life and de-escalation of potentially volatile situations, are the key factors and focus of this training.

The media will be given the opportunity to participate in various use of force scenarios. As space is limited, reservations should be made as soon as possible to attend.
